Living Learning Communities
What is a Living-Learning Community?
Living-Learning Communities (LLCs) are communities that allow students who share a common interest in academics, social and cultural issues, or other topics, the opportunity to live together on a floor. Residents of an LLC will be assisted with getting the resources they need to accomplish their academic goals and will create life-long relationships with faculty, staff, and other students living on the floor and at Marshall University.
What Living-Learning Communities are offered at Marshall University and who is eligible?
- Cultural Connections - Available to upperclassmen students only, and housed in Twin Towers West, this community provides students with the opportunity to explore cultures outside their own and build connections with students from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.
- The Green House – Available to upperclassmen students only, and housed in Twin Towers West, this community provides students who have an interest in Green living and sustainability with the opportunity to work with those in the sustainability office and cultivate change at Marshall.
- Greek Living – Available only to upperclassmen students, the community is housed in Haymaker Hall. Open only to Greek students, a primary goal of the program is for students to become more involved in the Huntington community and gain a deeper understanding of being Greek or belonging to a Greek organization.
- Honors College – Available to freshmen and upperclassmen, the program is housed in both the First Year Residence Halls and in Willis Hall. The goals for students in this community are to strengthen bonds between fellow Honors students, provide access to Honors college faculty and staff, and to provide programming meaningful to Honors students.
- College of Education – This community is for freshmen only and is housed in the First Year Residence Halls. The goals for this community are to strengthen bonds between fellow COEHS students, provide access to COEHS faculty and staff, and to provide programming essential to the needs of these students.
- College of Business - Housed in the First Year Halls for freshman students and in Buskirk and Twin Towers West for upperclassmen, the primary goal of this program is to help students in the College of Business access the resources they need to reach their full potential both in and outside the classroom.
- College of Science - This community is for upperclassmen only and is housed in Buskirk and Twin Towers West. One of the goals for students in this community is to provide programming essential to the needs of students majoring in Science.
- College of Health Professions - Open to all class standings, this freshmen community is housed in the First Year Residence Halls and the upperclassmen community is housed in Wellman Hall. The primary goal for the community is to build relationships within in the field of health science.
