General Sign-Up Information

  • Marshall University requires all students with a freshman or sophomore class standing to reside on campus if they live outside 50 driving miles.
  • Room Consolidation
    • Due to limited space within the residence halls, at the beginning of the spring and fall semesters, it may become necessary to consolidate residents by reassigning them to new rooms/suites. The purpose of the policy is to ensure spaces for incoming students and other student needs in rooms traditionally designated as double rooms/suites. Generally, implementation of the consolidation policy will only occur during the consolidation period, which is normally the first few weeks of each fall semester.
    • Students living in a room/suite with a vacancy will receive correspondence from the Department of Housing and Residence Life describing their options. Students required to move due to the consolidation policy will be required to move within seventy-two (72) hours of receipt of their e-mail. Generally, students will not be required to move into other buildings. HRL office will make every effort to keep students affected by the Consolidation Policy within the same building and floor (if available spaces exist).
    • Students with vacancies are encouraged to seek out roommates or a new room/suite mate during the Room Change period.
  • Roommate FAQ
    • Student Athletes cannot request roommates, per Marshall University Athletics.
    • Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students can pull-in a Sophomore roommate on Tuesday, February 13th and Wednesday, February 14th.
    • Your requested roommate must have accepted your roommate request to pull them as a roommate.
  • Four co-ed floors (male and female students living on the same floor) are available in Twin Towers West
    • 6th Floor – General Population (Limited bathroom escort policy)
    • 7th Floor – TRIO LLC
    • 8th Floor – Business LLC
    • 9th FloorLLC
  • Four co-ed floors (male and female students living on the same floor) are available in Twin Towers West
      • 7th Floor – Education
      • 8th Floor – Science LLC
  • Once you have completed your application and submitted your room/meal plan change it cannot be modified unless you submit the change(s) in writing to  housing@marshall.edu.
