Duties: The GSEPD Dean supports and advances graduate education and provides leadership in developing strategies to achieve existing and emerging institutional goals at Marshall's South Charleston Campus. The GSEPD Dean will be responsible for leading the GSEPD Program Directors and faculty in the development of a strategic plan for graduate education and enhancement of its mission at the South Charleston Campus. Additionally, the GSEPD Dean monitors student academic progress from admission to graduation by administering the policies promulgated by the Graduate council and approved by the President of the University. This include approving student plans of study, monitoring academic standing of all graduate students, and hearing academic appeals. The dean also checks that all requirements for graduate digress have been met and approves the final graduate student graduation list. Among his or her other duties, the dean is responsible for managing the school's budget and fiscal resources, engaging in fundraising activities, representing the school on various state and regional committees, developing a staffing plan for faculty recruitment, retention, and development, as well as developing and implementing a student recruitment and retention plan, and reviewing and administering grant applications.
