MSDN Academic Alliance

Due to a departmental agreement with Microsoft - faculty, staff, and students of the IST department are entitled to a variety of Microsoft applications.  This includes most Microsoft software with the exception of Microsoft Office.  All students are eligible for the program, regardless of his/her major, as long as he/she is currently enrolled in at least one IST course.

Students

If you are a student enrolled in an IST course and would like to have an MSDN account, please do the following:

  1. Download and print the MSDNAA Student Agreement form.
  2. Fill out *all* fields and sign at the bottom.
  3. Return a hardcopy of the form to the instructor of your IST course.
  4. Wait for a message sent to your Marshall email account with instructions on how to access the software.
  5. Follow the provided instructions to download installation disk images and request license keys.

*By signing the MSDNAA Student Agreement form, you are also agreeing to the terms of the MSDN End User License Agreement (EULA).

It says that my account is expired - what do I do?

Accounts are set to expire in order to ensure current enrollment in at least one IST course. The current procedure to reactive an expired account is to fill out a new form with your enrollment information for the current semester and submit it through the appropriate channel. You will receive a copy of the instructions email once your account is reactivated.

What if I can't give my form to my instructor?

If you experience difficulties returning your completed form to your instructor, you may return your form to Wanda Dyke in Morrow Library 116. Students not on the Huntington campus may also fax the form to 304-696-6533.

How long will it take?

Forms received during the schedule adjustment period of each semester will be held until that period is over. Forms are processed in the order in which they were received (first-come-first-served). Forms are generally processed within one week of receipt, but my take longer. Please do not wait until the last minute to submit your form.

Do I need to complete a form for each class?

If you are taking multiple IST courses during a semester, you do not need to complete multiple MSDNAA forms. Being enrolled in at least one IST course and completing one MSDNAA form entitles you to all of the software available through the program.

Faculty and Staff

If you are a professor teaching an IST course and would like access to the software, download the MSDNAA Staff Agreement form, fill out all appropriate fields, and return a hardcopy of the form to Wanda Dyke in Morrow Library 116.

*By signing the MSDNAA Staff Agreement form, you are also agreeing to the terms of the MSDN End User License Agreement (EULA).

Access the IST MSDNAA Site

If you currently have an MSDN account, you can access the MSDN website at:

http://www.marshall.edu/isat/secure/msdn

To login to the site, type marshall\YOUR-USER-NAME in the username field and then your Marshall password in the password field (if there is a domain field leave it blank).  The website contains information on how to access the MSDN software share, obtain software keys, etc.
