MU Information Security office strongly recommends using antivirus software and keeping operating systems up-to-date. Symantec AntiVirus software is being offered to all Marshall students, faculty, and staff at no extra charge.

The current version of antivirus offered is Symantec Endpoint Protection and is a vailable as a web download. A MUNet account username and password is required.There is also a version of Symantec Antivirus for MAC 0S 10.3+.

There are two download options of antivirus offered from this website:

1. The UNMANAGED version is for use on PERSONAL/HOME computers. Students, faculty, and staff should use the unmanaged version on personally owned computers that they use on campus, at home and in residence halls.
2. The MANAGED version is for UNIVERSITY-OWNED faculty and staff computers. Managed Clients receive their updates directly from the Symantec Endpoint Protection Server whenever new definitions come out.

With the Symantec Endpoint Protection product line, Symantec has bundled advanced features such as a built in firewall into the client. The download offered on this website is configured to only offer Antivirus and Antispyware protection. If you wish to get a more advanced version of the client, please contact the IT Service Desk to obtain a copy of that particular version.
