Dear:

As a result of the retirement of Dr. Dan Angel, President of Marshall University, the important task of choosing a successor has begun.  An essential part of the process is determining what criteria should be used in considering potential candidates.

The Marshall University Presidential Search and Screening Committee is seeking input from various on- and off-campus constituencies concerning the qualities and characteristics that the next president should possess.  In an effort to obtain your advice and opinions, the co-chairpersons of the committee, Mr. A. Michael Perry and Mr. Menis Ketchum, will convene a series of meetings in the Memorial Student Center Alumni Lounge on Friday, January 28, 2005.

The meeting for community leaders is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. that day.

Please be assured that the co-chairpersons on behalf of the entire committee invite and encourage your participation in this important process.  This meeting is open to any interested member of the community and we would encourage you to invite others to attend.

Additionally the committee will welcome written comments concerning the desired characteristics of the next president by email at johnsons@marshall.edu or mail to
