Dr. Dolmetsch is a Professor of German with specializations in German-American studies, German literature and culture of the 18th - 20th centuries, and German sociolinguistics and dialectology. His publications include the book, The German Press of the Shenandoah Valley (Camden House, 1984); as well as contributions to the reference series Dictionary of Literary Biography (Gales Research, 1987, 1990, 1992), to Deutsch als Muttersprache in den Vereinigten Staaten, Teil 2 (Franz Steiner, 1985), and to The German American Press (Wisconsin, 1992). He is also a regular book reviewer for CHOICE (American Association of Libraries) and The Yearbook of German-American Studies. He is currently analyzing texts of popular music songs that were translated from English into German during the 1960s and 1970s. He has also become a locally acknowledged connoisseur of the domestic and foreign brewers' art, and is a recognized (level) judge through BJCP [Beer Judge Certification Program].
