In Fall 2007, The Department of Modern Languages began offering a Japanese major and minor in the Department of Modern Languages! The Japanese Program at Marshall University is the only program that offers Japanese major in the state of West Virginia. There are at least two Japanese native volunteers who help your study in addition to your instructor in each Japanese class, which provides students with an opportunity to interact with students from Japan in every Japanese class! Also, Japanese instructors can help find conversation partners to practice Japanese and have a personal experience with individuals outside the classroom. A Japanese Study Abroad experience is currently under development.
