Born in Andalucía, Spain, Dr. Morillo is Full Professor of Spanish. His area of specialization is contemporary Spanish Peninsular language, culture and literature. He has lectured at numerous professional conferences, and has published articles on Spanish popular culture under Franco's Spain. He has published a book entitled, Myth and Reality in the Popular Songs of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Presently he is writing a manuscript on Images of Spanish Society in Popular Music (1968-1975).

Dr. Morillo has recently had two articles published:
