Born in Madrid, Spain, Dr. Riddel is a Professor of Spanish. Her area of specialization is contemporary Spanish Peninsular literature and feminism. She has read numerous presentations at professional conferences, has published several articles about the narrative production of Spanish women and a book entitled, La escritura femenina en la postguerra española.
Additionally, Dr. Riddel has researched and published on the literature produced by Spanish writers in exile and is currently working on a project on Cuban-Americans in cooperation with Professor David Duke from the History Department. Professor Riddel is the supervisor of the departmental Study Abroad Programs in France and in Spain and the faculty advisor and director of the Summer Spanish Language and Culture Program in Madrid.
