Sean Pauley and Caleb Huff, Reciepients of the Evelyn Hollberg Smith Scholarship for Music and Modern Languages, 2009.

On April 16th and 17th, 2009, 48 students from the College of Liberal Arts presented their scholarly and creative work at the 2009 CoLA Undergraduate Research and Creativity Conference. Everyone is invited to attend.  And please, encourage your students to attend as well. Registration will take place on April 16th from 8:30 to 12:00 in the Drinko Atrium (3rd floor) and on Friday, April 17th from 8:30 to 11:00 (Drinko Atrium, 3rd floor). Download 2009 flyer

Online course: Intermediate Spanish 204E

Intermediate Spanish 204 provides an intensive review of grammatical structures introduced in lower-level Spanish courses, but will focus on textbook readings, videos and internet resources that explore important cultural themes and issues in Hispanic life. All online course materials and weekly assignments can be accessed on WebCT Vista. These include a variety of online reviews, multimedia materials, discussions, quizzes and webquests designed to practice vocabulary and grammar, to improve reading, writing and listening skills, and to learn about Hispanic cultures. This is a fast-paced and rigorous program of language study, which requires basic computer literacy skills, motivation and discipline to complete daily online assignments and class preparations. Students should plan to spend at least fifteen (15) hours a week on WebCT Vista and will be periodically tracked for Progress though the self-paced sequence of online course materials. STUDENT NEWS AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

$4,000 ANNUAL GRANT AVAILABLE FOR JAPANESE MAJORS:


The National Smart Grant is available during the third and fourth years of undergraduate study (must have at least 72 hours), to full-time students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and who are majoring in Japanese. The student must also have maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 in coursework required for the major. The National SMART Grant award is in addition to the student's Pell Grant award.

If you qualify, you will receive the grant through the MU Office of Financial Aid.
