Accreditation
The Lewis College of Business is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Being AACSB-accredited means a business school is able to continuously pass a strict set of standards that ensure quality.
Less than 5% of the more than 11,000 business schools in the world have earned AACSB accreditation. There are only two business schools in the state of West Virginia that have AACSB accreditation (Marshall and WVU). For more information about the AACSB accreditation, please visit http://www.aacsb.edu/AACSB-Accredited .
In addition to earning AACSB Accreditation for its business degree programs, a school can receive an extra, specialized accreditation for its accounting programs. This is an accreditation that specifically evaluates a school’s accounting degree programs. Students who are serious about becoming accountants will ensure that they will learn from the best by attending a school that has AACSB Accounting Accreditation. Marshall’s Accounting program obtained AACSB Accounting Accreditation in September 2008. There are only 169 accounting programs in the world that have the AACSB accreditation.
Campus Life
The Business Living-Learning Community (LLC) is a community that provides students who share a major or specific interest in an academic area, the opportunity to live together in a residential community. Residents of the Business LLC will be assisted with obtaining the resources they need to reach their academic pursuits, goals, and create life-long friendships with faculty, academic advisors, and classmates living in their residence hall.
“The Business Living-Learning Community is designed to allow students the opportunity to experience the components of college living and learning, while being among students pursuing the same academic and career interests. We strongly encourage each business major to participate in this wonderful opportunity.”

Opportunities
Student Organizations: There are 10 different recognized business student organizations within the college of business. These organizations allow students to network and gain further knowledge from outside the classroom through the interactions with students and professors.
3 + 2 Program: The 3+2 Program offered by the Lewis College of Business allows students to earn both their Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees in a total of five years. Students are allowed to double-count up to nine hours of graduate-level courses from the master’s degree toward their bachelor’s degree requirements.
Study Abroad: You can experience life in a different culture while pursuing an approved course of study toward the baccalaureate degree. An international experience will serve as excellent preparation for whatever career you choose. Marshall students have enrolled in programs of study in such countries as England, Spain, Mexico, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, and China. Students can arrange for study abroad in several ways:
-
Study abroad for one or more semesters or during the summer
-
Enroll in another American institution’s study abroad program
-
Enroll in an International Exchange Program. Marshall maintains a number of these programs which involve a direct relationship with the institution abroad as well as easy transfer of credits.
Career
Internships: The purpose of the internship is to provide a means by which students can receive academic credit for educational experiences received in a work environment that cannot be provided by the Lewis College of Business. Students approved for internship credit will actually register for a
university course and are required to pay tuition for the credits they receive. All proposals for an internship must clearly identify the educational benefits that will accrue to the student before the internship will be approved.
Career Services: The college of business and Marshall University is commited to working with students to assist with finding there career. The implementation of the John Rulli LCOB Career Services Kiosk allows you to access Jobtrax to find the right career or internship for you!
