Basil
Iwanyk
is currently a film producer with a
first-look deal at Warner Brothers Studios. A
native of New Jersey, Iwanyk moved to Los Angeles
after graduating from Villanova University. He got
his start in the United Talent Agency mailroom but
quickly shifted gears and moved over to Warner Bros.
as one of the youngest Creative Executives in studio
history. In 1995 he was promoted to Vice-President
of the studio. During his tenure, Basil oversaw the
development and production of Warner films such as
OCEAN’S 11, U.S. MARSHALLS, and INSOMNIA. He also
ran development on the Academy Award winning picture
TRAINING DAY which grossed over $100 million and
garnered Denzel Washington his second Oscar.
In
2000, Basil left Warners to become the President of
Intermedia which was the largest independent film
company in the world. He produced TERMINATOR 3 and
ALEXANDER, as well as academy award nominated films
such as THE QUIET AMERICAN, IRIS, K 19: THE
WIDOWMAKER, and ADAPTATION.
Iwanyk left Intermedia in 2003 and returned to
Warners as a producer where he established his
company “Thunder Road Pictures”. His first produced
film under his new banner was the Harrison Ford
actioner FIREWALL. He recently wrapped production on
WE ARE MARSHALL starring Matthew McConaughey,
Matthew Fox, and David Strathairn. This picture will
be released this Christmas.
As
an executive at both Warner Bros. and Intermedia,
Basil has worked on over 30 movies. Thunder Road
films has 22 projects in various stages of
development; including a remake of the film SHARKY’S
MACHINE which will star Mark Wahlberg, an adaptation
of the UK children’s fantasy entitled THE SPOOKS
APPRENTICE to be directed by Tim Burton, a modern
re-telling of the classic film CLASH OF THE TITANS
and a biopic of Olympic skier Bill Johnson that is
being adapted by WE ARE MARSHALL writer Jamie
Linden. |
