Edward
H. Maier serves as
president of the Sarah and Pauline Maier Foundation, one of the
Kanawha Valley’s largest philanthropic organizations. Due to
Ed’s tremendous commitment to civic leadership and philanthropy,
he was awarded “The Doctor of Humane Letters Degree” in May 2002
from his alma mater, Marshall University.
A 1969
graduate of Marshall University, Ed has served as president of
General Corporation and three additional Kanawha Valley-based
companies-Big Two Mile Gas Co., Dunbar Storage Co., and the W.J.
Maier Storage Co.-for the past 29 years. He is President of the
Boards of ABH Inc., and Edgewood Summit Inc., and a member of
BB&T’s West Virginia and Charleston Advisory Boards.
Ed serves
as chairman of the Charleston Urban Renewal Authority,
vice-president of the CAMC Foundation, Inc., and as a board
member of the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences, Charleston
Renaissance Corporation, Camcare Health Education and Research
Institute, Inc., and Charleston Medical Housing Corporation.
Ed is a
past president of the Arthur B. Hodges Center, Inc. He is
formerly served as board member of the Marshall University
Society of Yeager Scholars, BIDCO, Capitol Market, Kanawha
County Parks and Recreation Commission, The River School, Inc.,
and West Virginia Roundtable.
Ed is
married to the former Susan Runyon, who is also a Marshall
University graduate. They have four children, Edward, Erica,
Elizabeth, and Elliott. |
