Thomas
E. Potter is a West
Virginia resident living in Charleston. He began his practice
with Jackson & Kelly in 1968. Tom is now a partner and has for
many years headed the firm’s Business Law Department. Prior to
Jackson & Kelly, Tom was a partner with Woodrow, Kizer and
Steed. He serves as chairman of Jackson and Kelly’s Executive
Committee.
For eight
years, Tom was a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates
serving on its Judiciary and Rules Committees. Over a 20 year
period, he has represented business interests before the
Legislature.
Tom is on
the board of directors for Jackson & Kelly Solutions; co-chair
and member of the board of directors for Advantage Valley, Inc.;
chairman and board member for Business & Industrial Development
Corporation of Kanawha Valley; secretary and member of the Board
of Directors for the Center for the Arts and Sciences of West
Virginia, Inc.; board member and past chair of the Charleston
Regional Chamber of Commerce & Development; and past member of
the Board of Trustees of the University System of West
Virginia.
Tom’s
awards include Board of Editors, West Virginia University Law
Review; West Virginia Junior Chamber of Commerce Young Man
of the Year, 1968; Recipient of the James R. Thomas Volunteer of
the Year Award-Charleston Renaissance Corporation, 1997; and
Recipient of the “Spirit of the Valley Award” for leadership and
volunteer work in the Kanawha Valley, 1997. |
