Charles R. ACharlie@
Neighborgall III
was born in
Huntington and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor
of Engineering Science degree from Marshall University.
Charlie began his career
with Neighborgall Construction Company at age 14 carrying water to the workmen.
From then on, Charlie worked summers as a warehouseman, laborer, and all-around
gopher.
After graduating from
Marshall, Charlie worked in estimating and project management. In 1972, he
became Senior Project Manager in charge of the patient room addition at
Montgomery General Hospital. Charlie became General Manager in 1980 and was
elected President and CEO of Neighborgall Construction in 1983 and continues to
hold this position today.
During Charlie=s
tenure, Neighborgall Construction has built many prominent structures in
Huntington and on the Marshall University campus. Some of the structures are
St. Mary=s
Outpatient Center, Marshall University Medical Center, plus Cabell Midland,
Spring Valley, and Huntington High Schools. Neighborgall Construction also
built the new student housing complex, the Buck Harless Dining Hall, and oversaw
renovations to Laidley and Hodges Halls, as well as Old Main Auditorium, Morrow
Library, and Holderby Dormitory.
Charlie is a board member
of the Marshall University Society of Yeager Scholars, Marshall University
Master Plan Committee, and Marshall University Artists Series. He is a past
Chairman and current board member of Contractors Association of West Virginia (CAWV).
Charlie is also a member of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce and the
West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Charlie and his wife, Vickie, are members of
the Marshall University Thunderclub.
Charlie has many interests
outside the construction industry as well. He is an avid golfer, tennis player,
and scuba diver. He is currently Professional Association of Diving Instructors
(PADI) certified.
Charlie and Vickie were
married in 1964, and reside in Huntington. They have two children, Charles Roy
AC.R.@
IV and Beth Ann, and five grandchildren.
