Art and Joan Weisburg own State Electric Supply Co., which is a retail/wholesale distributor of electrical and electronic supplies with showrooms and warehouse facilities. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Art graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from City College in New York in 1950. After graduating he began his career in West Virginia, traveling throughout the Kanawha and Ohio valleys, selling light bulbs from the back of a pickup truck. Joan, a native of Charleston, received her bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and is president of Twelve O Six Virginia, Inc., a real estate and property management company. From his one-man operation, the Weisburgs, built a large nationally ranked company. Out of 4,000 companies nationwide, State Electric Supply has been one of the top 25 electrical distributors for the past 15 years. In 1994, Art received the Charles D. Scott Distinguished Career Award in recognition of his service to the American Wire Industry. Also in 1994, the Huntington, West Virginia Herald-Dispatch named him as one of two "Citizens of the Year." Under the corporate umbrella of Arthur's Enterprises, the Weisburgs established a specialty wire fabrication company called Service Wire in 1968, that now has customers thoughout the world and an expanding line of products.
