Welcome to L.E.A.P.

We like the LEAP Program because it has prepared us for a great future. LEAP has helped us to improve our level of English.

 Take the Tour

The attendance policy at L.E.A.P. is very strict. If a student misses more than ten percent of his or her classes for any reason except serious illness, that student may fail the level and may be asked to leave the University.

We realize that from time to time, you may have to miss a class for personal reasons, but if you must be absent, please phone or email the L.E.A.P. office before class to let us know. Students must also avoid being late to class. Three lates (no matter how late) is equal to one absence.

The attendance policy is strict for several reasons:

    • Students need to attend all of the classes to derive the maximum benefit from their study at L.E.A.P.

    • International students are required by law to attend classes full-time. (If a student misses more than 10% of his or her classes, he or she will become a part-time student. US immigration does not allow international students to attend school part-time.)

    • Students who have missed more than 10% of their classes and/or have a grade average less than 63% may be placed on academic probation during their next semester of study. Students on academic probation are in danger of being expelled from the L.E.A.P. Program. Those students with passing TOEFL scores entering Marshall University with failing grades in the L.E.A.P. Program may be limited in the number of credit hours for which they can register each semester.
