Intelligent Transportation Systems using LEGO Robotics

Intelligent Transportation Systems using LEGO Robotics program, coordinated by Linda Hamilton, explores traffic control, traffic monitoring, intelligent vehicles, and city planning. The Nick J. Rahall, II, Appalachian Transportation Institute sponsored a series of three workshops for students from grades four through nine. These transportation workshops centered around building LEGO models. The LEGO Class started by discussing a meaning for "traffic" then, after discussion, students chose one of four groups to work in for the week: "Cars", "House", "Bug", or "Gadgets". Each group then worked to fulfill needs of transportation in a city. At the end of the week, the students assembled a display of their transportation models.
