ALL FILMS ARE SHOWN ON TUESDAYS

October 7th: The Times of Harvey Milk

A devastatingly skillful and emotionally
compelling documentary, The Times of Harvey Milk
charts the political rise and brutal slaying of the first openly gay city
official in the United State, Harvey Milk. Ironically, the same election that
brought Milk to the board of city supervisors of San Francisco also elected the
man who killed him, a former police officer and fireman named Dan White. After
White shot both Mayor George Moscone and Milk, his defense lawyers convinced the
jury that White's judgment was impaired by depression and junk food, resulting
in a conviction for manslaughter instead of murder--a verdict that prompted
riots. With care and conviction, The Times of Harvey
Milk captures not only Milk himself, but also the
political and social landscape in which these events took place. The
interviews--with friends, politicians, and journalists--are articulate and
heartfelt, expressing the impact that Milk had upon this historical moment.
October 14th: The Itty Bitty Titty Committee

This latest fabulous movie from Jamie (But I'm a
Cheerleader) Babbit is a dynamic, romantic, frequently funny and politically
astute movie with a smart script, rockin soundtrack and terrific ensemble cast
that includes sexy young Melonie Diaz as the new dyke on the block who falls in
with a great gang of Feminist troublemakers called Clits in Action (CiA), and
then falls in love with leader of the pack, Nicole Vicius. Unfortunately, Nicole
has a girlfriend Melanie Mayron and, as they say, drama ensues. With Carly Pope,
Daniela Sea, Guinevere Turner, Deak Eugenikos, Jenny Shimizu and Lauren Mollica.
WINNER- South by Southwest Jury Award - Best Narrative Feature
Official Selection: Berlin Film Festival
October 21st: The History Boys

From award-winning playwright Alan Bennett (The Madness of
King George) comes this delightfully witty comedy of eight
boisterous-yet-talented schoolboys hoping to gain admittance to England's most
prestigious universities. They're aided on their quest by two teachers a shrewd
young upstart and an inspiring old eccentric whose opposing philosophies
challenge the boys to confront the true meaning of education and the relative
values of happiness and success. Adapted from the original Tony Award winning
play and starring the original Tony Award winning cast The History Boys is an
engaging thought-provoking and wickedly funny look at history the pursuit of
knowledge and the utter randomness of life.
October 28th: Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Sometimes grace and hope come in surprising packages. The
title character of Hedwig and the Angry Inch,
a would-be glam-rock star from East Germany, undergoes a botched gender-change
operation in order to escape from the Soviet bloc, only to watch the Berlin Wall
come down on TV after being abandoned in a trailer park in middle America.
Hedwig gets involved with Tommy, an adolescent boy who steals her songs and
becomes a stadium-filling musical act. Suffering from a broken heart and a lust
for revenge, Hedwig follows Tommy's tour, playing with her band (the Angry Inch)
at tacky theme restaurants. Into this simple storyline, writer-director-star
John Cameron Mitchell packs an astonishing mix of sadness, yearning, humor, and
kick-ass songs with a little Platonic philosophy tucked inside for good measure.
