Q. Do I have to be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender to take advantage of the LGBTO's resources and programming?
A. No, The LGBT Outreach serves as a resource center for the entire campus community. Our events, unless otherwise stated, are open to students, faculty, staff and the community.
Q. Will people think that I am LGBT if I go into the LGBT Outreach?
A. As a campus resource center we work with a large number of people, many whom are not LGBT. It is not uncommon to find graduate students searching for resource material in the LGBT Outreach or straight allied members of the campus community stopping in to talk. Our volunteers and staff are also trained to make no assumptions on sexual orientation or gender identity and the office maintains the confidentiality of it's patrons.
Q. I have went by the office in the evenings no one is there, is the office open?
A. The LGBTO is open for Approximately 20 hours each week, sometimes less if we have programs we are speaking too during the week. However you can always call the office 304.696.6623 to schedule and appointment or e-mail us with questions via the feedback page. The office hours will be posted on the door and on the website.
Q. Why is the LGBTO Website not updated more often?
A. We try to update the LGBT Outreach website as much as possible however with software and access restrictions it is a particularly laborious process so we generally do two major updates each semester and we try to check our links regularly. We get a lot of questions about updates and we only ask that you consider before the current site went up in 2005 the LGBT Outreach website had not been updated since 1997. So please keep checking back, generally the website is updated at the start of each semester and around the midterm.
