Challenged, but retained, in Manchester (CN) curriculum despite charges that the book is "offensively graphic in its descriptions of violence, terrorism, and suicidal thoughts". Challenged, but retained, on Fauquier (VA) 9th grade gifted and talented reading list despite charges that it was too violent, treated suicide in a cavalier manner, and had inappropriate sexual content and gender stereotyping.
