Add the Marshall University Libraries Catalog as a search engine for your browser.
How to Install a MU Catalog Search Engine: Internet Explorer 7
Visit one of these catalog search pages: Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, and Call Number. Notice the search toolbar dropdown button glow while visiting these pages.

Click on the right of the search box to see all of the search engines (search providers) installed.

Select "Add Search Providers" and then choose "MU Catalog" search engine.

You'll see a pop-up window asking you if you want to install this search provider. Click "Add Provider". If you want this search engine to be your default, check the box that states "Make this my default search provider".

Whenever you want to search the MU Catalog, select it from the toolbar.

How to Uninstall

Click on the right of the search box to see all of the search engines installed. Select "Change Search Defaults."

Select the MU search engine you wish to remove. Then click on the "Remove" button and click OK .

How to Install a MU Catalog Search Engine: Firefox 2
Visit one of these MU Catalog search pages: Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, and Call Number. Notice the search toolbar dropdown button glow while visiting these pages.

Click on the logo area on the left side of the search box to see all of the search engines installed.

Select "Add MU Catalog".

The M logo will appear in the search toolbar. Whenever you want to search the MU Catalog, select it from the toolbar.

How to Uninstall

Click on the logo area on the left side of the search box to see all of the search engines installed.

Select "Manage Search Engines."

Select the MU Catalog search engine you wish to remove. Then click on the "Remove" button and click OK .

How to Install a MU Catalog Search Engine: Firefox 1 (and earlier)
If you use and older version of Firefox or Mozilla Suite, you can add the MU Catalog to your list of available search engines. Click on one of the links below to add that search engine to your browser.

- Add MU Catalog Author search
- Add MU Catalog Subject search
- Add MU Catalog Call Number search
- Add MU Catalog ISBN/ISSN search

How To Uninstall
- Go to the installation directory of the application (Firefox or Mozilla Suite) and locate the subfolder "searchplugins":
- Firefox: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins
- Thunderbird: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\searchplugins
- Mozilla Suite: C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\searchplugins
- Delete both SRC and GIF/PNG files for each search plugin: For example, delete "milesk.src" and "milesk.png".
- Restart your browser and the MU Catalog plugins will disappear.
How to Install a MU Catalog Bookmarklet: Internet Explorer 6 (and earlier)
The bookmarklets below all search the MU Catalog by a specific search within Internet Explorer, which is the same as searching: http://mulibiiidb.marshall.edu/search/X
To save a bookmarklet to your browser:
- Right click on one of the links below.
- Select "Add to Favorites".

- Click Yes when the Security Alert popup window opens.

- Click Ok to add the bookmarklet to your Favorites.

MU Catalog bookmarklets:
- MU Catalog Keyword Search
- MU Catalog Title Search
- MU Catalog Author Search
- MU Catalog Subject Search
- MU Catalog Combined Author and Title Search
- MU Catalog Call Number Search
- MU Catalog ISBN or ISSN Search
How to use a bookmarklet:
- Highlight text on a web page while using Internet Explorer
- Click on Favorites
- Select MU Catalog Keyword Search (or whatever search bookmarklet you added)
- MU Catalog will give you results based on the text you highlighted
Example search: If you have the last name of someone selected on a web page and you've installed the "MU Catalog Author Search" bookmarklet, it will automatically perform an author search in MU Catalog for that person's last name. If there is no currently selected text then the bookmarklets will prompt you for a search in a pop-up dialog box.
