Nursing Research Guide

This online guide is developed specifically for those doing research in Nursing. It provides a recommended list of resources, which encompasses print materials, electronic databases, and selected Internet resources.

It lists only resources that deal primarily with nursing and health-related material.

Because nursing includes many disciplines such as biology, psychology, sociology, education, and business management you may need to consult resources in those fields also.

For more extensive research help, contact Paris Webb at 696-3511.

Journal & Magazine Articles

The online databases listed below will provide references (i.e. citations) to articles and, in some cases, full-text articles in a wide range of periodicals, from news magazines and newspapers to scholarly and professional journals. If you have questions about choosing or using a database or index, please consult a librarian.

Full-Text Databases

Citations (Indices & Bibliographic) Databases

These databases provide citation information (author, article title, periodical name, volume & issue, date) for articles, essays, book chapters, dissertations, and other materials, which may be found in the MU Libraries or ordered from another library using  Information Delivery Services (IDS).

Selected Periodicals - Print & Online

The titles below are only a partial list of Nursing periodicals available in print, microfilm, and online through MU Libraries.

The Journals link, (available on the main Libraries page and under the Search tab on the toolbar above), links you to MU Libraries Journal Search.  Here you can search by title, issn, or subject.  Journal Search has detailed information for all our journals, magazines, and newspapers.  It indicates if the periodical is available online, in print, or in microfilm, and states the years of coverage.  Note: In most cases, there is a direct link to full-text content, but some vendors don't provide a link to individual titles.  In that case you will need to search the database to find articles in a specific periodical.

To see MU periodicals just with the term "nursing" in the title, try a search with the term nursing as a "title contains all terms" search.
