Simply email me back your choices and each will be scheduled. You can choose as few as one or as many as you want! 1. Library Roadshow: This is when a librarian comes to the UNI classroom to present library instruction rather than the students coming into the library. The focus will be on how to access library resources from your dorm-room, house, or apartment. We will feature library resources that are available to them 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 2. Online Modules: This option will automatically be available as part of your MUOnline component, if instructors select to ‘activate’ the online option. These modules will cover the library resources through dynamic screen captures and short videos. The modules will come complete with a short assignment and quizzes. 3. Physical Tour of Drinko Library: This is a 50 minute physical tour of the Drinko Library and may also include a brief physical tour of the Morrow Library. NOTE: This will not include classroom time where students learn about our online resources. 4. In-Library Instruction: This is instruction in Drinko Library. If you choose this option we will schedule a date and time for your class to come into the library. NOTE: This will not include a physical tour. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. If I haven’t heard back from you by July 1st, I will automatically assign a date and time for you with In-Library instruction. | NAME: Kelly Broce EMAIL: HYPERLINK "mailto:broce1@marshall.edu" broce1@marshall.edu DEPT: English PHONE: 304-696-6645 TITLE: Composition I COURSE_ABBREV: ENG 101 NUMBER_OF_STUDENTS: 24x4 ACADEMIC_LEVEL: Freshmen RESEARCH_EXPERIENCE: Novice PREFERRED_DATE-TIME: September 15, 10AM-2PM (4 sections) ALT_DATE-TIME: September 18 26, 10AM-2PM (4 sections) AREAS_FOR_INSTRUCTION: Introduction to the library catalog, Introduction to Database Searching, Distinguishing Between Popular and Scholarly Periodicals, Evaluating Materials/Critical Thinking, Citing Resources ASSIGNMENT_TOPICS_TERMS_ETC: I apologize for the short notice, but I'm requesting the dates in case there's the slightest possible chance of obtaining them. If either of these dates are not possible, could you notify me of the closest date available? All four sections are 50 minute classes. I wanted to request the advanced computer searches as well, but I'm not sure if time will allow for it. The class is designed so students can meld three papers into one - a definition, causal analysis, and proposal/recommendation essay will combine to become an 8 page recommendation essay. Students will need at least 10 sources by the final paper, which will be either in APA or MLA format, dependent on their major. Helpful databases to cover include: Academic Search Premier, Lexis Nexis, Points of View, JSTOR, ERIC, Health Source - Nursing Academic Edition (any nursing), PsycArticles, CWI, and Business Source Premier, although the first 3 are by far the most important. Aside from terms listed above, "discourse" is also a good term. | |
