Library Basics
Books
Books provide in-depth and historical treatments of topics. Use the index or table of contents in the book to determine if a book covers the subject matter that you need.
The book’s call number will tell you where the book is located in the library.
The call number is related to the subject of the book. Browsing through other books located around this book will lead to related books.
Search the library catalog to find books. The catalog contains information about all of the items that the MU libraries own. In addition to books, there are videos, sound recordings, government documents, and special collections, among other types of resources. The catalog does not provide information about articles; to find articles you use a article database like Academic Search Premier or Lexis-Nexis Academic.
