This month, come take a stroll through the fascinating career of 1947 Marshall Alumnus, Marvin L. Stone.
Stone, graduated from the School of Journalism under the able supervision of W. Page Pitt who became his mentor and life-long friend. Stone, who many know as the former Editor-in-Chief of U.S. News & World Report, had a career in journalism that spanned forty years. It included every phase of news gathering from the daily newspaper, to the wire service, and to a national news magazine, as well as the promotion of the freedom of the press throughout the world. Ever the loyal alumnus, Stone visited Marshall many times throughout the years to support scholarship, University programs, and to speak to students and other local groups.
The Marvin L. Stone Display can be seen throughout the month of October on the 3rd floor of Drinko Library. In addition, please enjoy a visit to MU Libraries' Special Collections Virtual Museum online exhibit, Marvin L. Stone: A Pictorial Biography.
