Sacred Visions: 19th Century Biblical Art

Suffer the Children

Inspired by the Dahesh Museum exhibition "Nineteenth Century Biblical Art" held at New York's Museum of Biblical Art, Helen Majdalany of the Marshall University Theatre Department presents “Sacred Visions: 19th Century Biblical Art."  Courtesy of prints from the Dahesh Museum, we invite you to come to the John Deaver Drinko Library and enjoy an exhibition that considers the rich diversity and transformation of biblical subject matter produced during the nineteenth century by masters of the Academic Art tradition.

While there, you might enjoy learning more about the Academic Art style of painting and artists from the Academic tradition.  Resources are available in our Art books collection housed also on 3rd floor.  To find available print as well as online resources in one easy search, try our Summon Search box available at http://www.marshall.edu/library/default.asp.

The Sacred Visions display may be viewed from mid-November 2013 to mid-January 2014 on 3rd floor of the Drinko Library.  For further information, contact Paris Webb, Digital Resources/Systems Support Librarian.  (11-18-2013)

A list of additional resources provided by Ms. Majdalany is available here.
