Charles Richardson was born 5/23/1887 and died 3/25/1977 at the age of 90. The family operated Richardson Hardware and/or general store. The family arrived in Marlington about 1900. Mr. Richardson was customer oriented and his success in business was clear in its results. Mr. Richardson is pictured in front of the store. If you listen to the interview on tape you can hear the explanation of the operation of the old elevator. The store is still in business and the elevator is still in operation. I knew and traveled with Reed Davis a member of the family and a past Dean at WV Institute of Technology where a building bears his name. This is and was a very fine family.
