Dr. Alexander explains purpose of project and asks to set up interviews.  Looks at paint shaker--it is demonstrated.  Think you've got an old corn husker.  Woman shows--old washer, demonstrates wringer.  "You smoothed the clothes through here and the buttons flew everywhere."  *"I saw one in the Ford Museum, but it wasn't in near as good condition.  This one still has the instructions on it.

ALEX.:  They've been shellacked over probably and that preserved them.
Woman:  Well, there was an old fella down in Hillsboro came in to buy a Maytag wringer washer.  And he wanted to know if we took trade-ins.  Mr. Richardson asked him what kind it was. Oh, he didn't know.  "Well, does it work?"  "Oh, yes.  Good as the day I bought it."  So he (Richardson) said, "How about 20 dollars?"  Yeah, that'd suit him fine.  So when the boys delivered the Maytag this is what he had.  So they brought it up here and so the next time the old fella was in, Mr. Richardson said, "Well, uh, we kinda pulled a dirty deal with you on that washer.  I think we owe you some more money."  Oh, he just wouldn't have it, he said, "A deal's a deal."  We've had it a good long time, at least 20 years but it was still an antique at that time.
