  Charles Aleshire was born in 1842. He served as captain of the 18th Battery, Ohio Light Artillery, during the Civil War. He participated in the Middle Tennessee campaign, fighting in the battles of Thompson's Station, Shelbyville, Chickamauga,
   After the war he obtained a commission in the U. S. Artillery and was stationed at Fort Preble in Maine, and Fort Jefferson near Key West, Florida. He resigned his commission and returned home to practice law.
