The Meadows
Lexington Sept 24. 1874.
My Dear Mother
Your truly welcome
letter of the 13th inst was received
with much pleasure several
days since. would have answered
sooner but wrote several letters
home since then so concluded to
postponing writing yours.
I suppose Johnnie is with
you all now and quite lost
in his books. I was sorry he
could not stay longer as we
all wanted him to stay so much
[Written vertically, continuation from Page 3]
We ride out nearly every day
and the roads are lovely here.
The boys and girls did not get
to take [illegible] out as much as
they wanted to. but it seemed to
me they were going all the time
Give my love to all and
accepting a large portion your-
self write me soon to
Your loving Daughter
Mary
Tell Joe I will answer his letter re-
ceived yesterday very soon. am looking
for a letter from Rube.
