I received a letter from
Kate Shallron[?] today, and
she tells me there are
some young ladies visiting
Mrs Hebards, and she
speaks of their as being beau-
tiful.  I would like
to be in Gallipolis a
few days but would not
be contented there long as
I like the soldiers life bet-
ter every day. and hardly
have not other desire, now,
I know if I remain in
the army the three years
I will always be in it
but I hope the war will
be ended before that time
but id it is not I will
not despair, will
you. I tell you what it is
