cut out, and diamond cluster
ring. emerald center removed
and diamond set in place. and
that McDevit detective expects
to find emerald P.S. to letter
says 12_says Vernie did not
give her watch and chain but
thinks he gave it to another
[?] in City. Rings have
been ordered here for indenti=
fication [?] detective and
Chief of Police suggested. if
identified. V. must pay all
expenses and the $100. to S.H.H.
they (detectives) ask nothing until
we are satisfied- will keep
you posted about matter.
V. has not appeared in public
yet except to ride in carriage
and carry his crutches.
