the bright side of things--
the day "Richmond" fell or the
day we got the news I was
ordered by telegraph "to report
my first train on RegtHd Qrs [?]
in honor of the fall of Rich-
mond"- Where I got on
the train I found Capt Crom-
ell (a very particular friend
of mine) going up to Knox-
ville on the same order
We had a gay time there-
Col. Gibson gave me a hearty
greeting & introduced me to
his wife with whom I had
quite a talk. Capt C. & I were
the only officers that recd
an order of this kind. I
considered it quite compli-
metary to us_ I must stop
now & go to supper
Yours ever
E Aleshire
