The Florida was the second most successful
Confederate raider after the C.S.S. Alabama, capturing 33 ships. She was
rammed and captured by the U.S.S. Washusett on October 7, 1864.
While being towed back to the United States, she sank in a collision
with the transport ship, the U.S. Alliance. |
