One of only two southern
bills printed with a woman’s picture. This $100 Confederate note was
issued in 1864. It shows
the likeness of Lucy Pickens, wife of South Carolina governor, Francis
William Pickens . She was famous
for her
"classic features, titian hair, pansy eyes, and graceful figure."
The man in the corner is George W. Randolph, a member of the Confederate
Cabinet.
