This village named for the landowner, John Kistler (Doutt, Logan County, p. 55) In 1972 No. 1 mine of the Wilson, Mining and Lumber Corporation (Kistler) was located at Kistler. It employed 12 persons and produced 9,000 tons annually (WV Directory of Mines, 1972, sheet 28). There was one known fatality in Kistler from the Buffalo Creek Flood. James Brunty, 82 years
