Pardee sits at the mouth of Toney Branch of Buffalo Creek. The village was named for Aerio Pardee of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who owned the Pardee Land Company. This company leased the land to the Lorado Coal Company. (Doutt, Logan County, p. 80) There were four known fatalities in Pardee from the Buffalo Creek Flood: Augusta Miller, 69, years
