RAULPH EUGENE JONES, ASSISTANT FOOTBALL MANAGER
Ralph Eugene Jones, an 18-year-old Assistant Football Manager, was a freshman from Hillsdale, West Virginia. He was a graduate of Talcott High School and was studying accounting. He had been the Assistant Football Manager since the previous August. He had been on two of the season's previous three away games and was not slated to go to the East Carolina game. He had never flown and pleaded with Jerry Sieber to let him make the flight. Sieber decided to let him go in his place. But, he missed the flight when his grandmother died four days before the game. He told the coaching staff that he had decided to stay through the weekend and would not make back to Huntington in time for the game.
He was not on the airplane.
