Marvin L. Stone interrupted his college education during World War II. He attended the College Naval Training Program V-12 at Emory & Henry College during 1943-44. He then attended U.S. Naval Training School, Camp MacDonough, Plattsburg Barracks, N.Y., where he graduated and was commissioned an Ensign on June 27 1944 .
