Jesse Stuart and his wife, Naomi Deane, outside
their home in W-Hollow, Greenup County,
Kentucky. The small, wooden out-building
in the center of the picture was the
structure where Stuart worked, as well
as storing his collection of
magazines and journals that had published
his short stories, poems and articles.
Although rough in appearance on the
outside, the interior of the building was meticulously clean and
air-conditioned to help preserve the
documents. It was from this building that he allowed
the staff of Special Collections to take
duplicate copies of materials for the
Jesse Stuart Collection at the Marshall
University Libraries. |
