In Lost Sandstone and Lonely Skies and
Other Essays Jesse Stuart selected
pieces that expressed his views on
nature and conservation. He feels,
“Wildlife, flora and fauna are immortal
subjects. So is the subject of people.”
So passionate was he about nature that
Stuart insured that the 900 acres that
he owned along W-Hollow would be
preserved by the Kentucky Nature
Preserves Commission, as well as Jesse
Stuart Foundation that he founded.
