(Huntington, WV) On September 13, Marshall University held the 4th anuual SweatEquity Day. This is a day when students and faculty gather and clean up campus. Several students showed up. Students were grouped and performed tasks such as scraping gum from the sidewalks, weeding flower gardens, cleaning windows and any other job imaginable. The Lions club weeded the MSC's ivy bed, then proceeded to remove gum from the neighboring sidewalk. After the work was finished, participants were treated to pizza, soft drinks and a free t-shirt. September 10,11 2003
(Huntington, WV) During MU's annual "Independence Daze" celebration, the MU Lions manned an information table in the MSC plaza. Despite the heat, the club officers had a great time talking to prospective members, all while eating candy and listening to live music.

October 2003
(Huntington, WV) October is Recycle For Sight month. The MU Lions club began collecting old eyeglasses from fellow students, friends and family. These glasses will be refurbished and provided to visually impaired people in poor nations. In 1925, Helen Keller challenged the Lions Club to be "knights of the blind." The Recycle For Sight program was created with this mission in mind. The MU Lions Club wiill be collecting glasses for the most of the remainder of the semester. Look for drop off boxes to be placed in dorms sometime soon.
