Mathematics Competition

The Marshall University Department of Mathematics hosts an annual Mathematics Competition for high school students. Rather than testing students’ ability to recall facts, the competition is designed to test students’ mathematical creativity and their ability to formulate and defend their conclusions.

Each school may send one team, of three students, to the competition. Students may use graphing calculators during the examination. Successful participants generally have completed mathematics courses through at least Algebra 2 or pre-calculus.
