Position Description: The Department of Mathematics at Marshall University invites applications for one temporary position at the rank of assistant professor starting in fall 2012. Our faculty has 32 full-time members and offers a B.S. and M.A. in Mathematics. The primary mission of our department is quality undergraduate and graduate education. A Ph.D. or equivalent in the mathematical sciences is required by August 2012. Applicants should submit evidence of quality teaching and research potential. The research interests of the successful candidates will complement the interests of the current faculty; see http://www.marshall.edu/math/. The Department also seeks candidates who will contribute to the University’s general education curriculum with its emphasis on a common First-Year Seminar and core curriculum courses that enhance students’ critical thinking and the College’s support of interdisciplinary programs of study.
