The Multicultural Advisory Council |

The Multicultural Advisory Council serves as an advisory body to the Division of Multicultural Affairs on multicultural issues and topics. The Advisory Council will explore ideas and issues related to achieving a pluralistic community that reflects the diversity of cultures and people within our society. The Division of Multicultural Affairs recognizes that the Marshall University community is a microcosm of society comprised of people, ideas and cultures rich in their histories and traditions.
The Multicultural Advisory Council represents a broad range of university constituencies. Recognizing that Marshall University is an integral part of the city of Huntington, community representation on the Council is encouraged.
The Advisory Council meets during the academic year to address the overarching needs, ideas, concerns, points of view, programs and policies within the Marshall University community. The Vice President for Multicultural Affairs serves as Chair person and convener to the Council. The Vice President for Multicultural Affairs will advise the President on the status and findings of the Council on an annual basis. |

The Multicultural Advisory Council will strive to encourage, advocate and support programs and policies that;
|
|
Establish innovative and assertive methods of recruitment and retention to achieve multicultural representation among the faculty, staff, students & administration;
Establish and encourage a genuine commitment to diversity by all members of the Marshall University community;
Support and advocate for programs and services that encourage, educate and engage students both in and outside of the classroom on diversity;
Create and maintain a campus climate that welcomes and values the success of all people;
Support and encourage a curriculum which manifests diversity as a sign of equality and prepares students to live and thrive in a global society. |
