Selection Criteria:
- Prospective Multicultural Leadership Ambassadors who have knowledge of and a level of comfort with their own their diversity; individuals who are articulate, outgoing, and enthusiastic will be invited to apply for the Multicultural Leadership Ambassador Program.
- Information regarding the application process will be available in the campus newspaper, and on the University website/all interested students are to complete an application and submit two letters of recommendation and a transcript for consideration.
- A selection committee comprised of the Diversity Directors, the Dean of Students and a graduate student will meet to review applications and to interview selected students.
- A broad range of students representing various cultures, ethnicities, socio economic levels, geographic regions, sexual orientation and Appalachian culture will be considered for the selection process.
- Multicultural Leadership Ambassadors must be enrolled as a full time student and must have a 2.75 GPA to apply and are expected to maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher for participation in the Multicultural Leadership Ambassador Program.
- Professional development training is required with professional facilitators on Cultural Competency, Leadership, Communication and Presentation.
- Multicultural Leadership Ambassadors will receive a tour of the multicultural offices and meet with the Directors of the various offices for discussion on issues and concerns facing diverse groups on campus.
