- Collegiate Environmental Network-

Next CEN Meeting: January 14-16 at Coolfont Resort in Berkeley Springs                                       

Members from Mesa began meeting with students at Shepherd College and Jim Hill from the WV DNR in the fall of 2000 to begin creating a group that would bring together students in environmental programs across the state. Progress continues to be made in founding an organization that will benefit students through networking and internship funding.

OCT 31-2 2004

MESA members attended the SWA annual conference on litter control at Stonewall Jackson Resort. We worked with students from Shepherd College, WVU, Concord, Charleston University, and Fairmont on developing environmental projects on campus and goals for the CEN.  MESA was awarded 3rd place and $50 for their scrapbook .

Oct 25-27

Seven of Mesa's members attended the ASWA annual conference at Snowshoe. We worked with students from Shepherd College, Glennville, Fairmont, and WVU-Parkersburg on developing environmental projects on campus, making a few final changes to the CEN constitution, and discussing the purpose and mission of the group.

March 18-20
Members of MESA attended the WV DNR’s Annual Governor’s Conference on Environmental Education. Students attend workshops on composting, recycling, the Save Our Streams monitoring program, and applying for grants. We also worked with students from Shepherd College, WVU and Glennville to draft a CEN constitution and begin planning for the next year.

March 1-3, 2001
On a recent trip to Shepherdstown, members of MESA met with Jim Hill from the DNR,  Shepherd College Faculty including Ed Snyder, and the members of the Shepherd Environmental Organization (SEO). We coordinated efforts with students at Shepherd College to create the foundation for  the West Virginia Collegiate Environmental Network (WV CEN).  We also toured the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Conservation Training Center.
