WARNER BROS. PICTURES AND LEGENDARY PICTURES
SIGN McG TO DIRECT AND MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY TO STAR
IN UNTITLED MARSHALL UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL PROJECT

BURBANK, CA 27  JANUARY 2006 Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that filmmaker McG will direct and Matthew McConaughey will star as Coach Jack Lengyel in the Untitled Marshall University Football Project, to be produced by Basil Iwanyk and McG.  The Thunder Road / Wonderland Films Production will be released worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.  It is being co-financed by Legendary Pictures.

The movie is based on an actual event that occurred in the 1970s, when the West Virginia-based Marshall University football team, most of its coaching staff, sports commentators, and many of its local boosters were killed in a plane crash. A determined coach and a small group of surviving players plant the seeds of future success as they struggle to deal with the loss of their friends, mentors and teammates.

Filming will take place this spring on location in West Virginia and will utilize the actual Marshall campus and surrounding areas.

The executive producers are Brent O'Connor, Thomas Tull, Jeanne Allgood and Scott Mednick.  The screenplay is by Jamie Linden, based on a story by Cory Helms & Jamie Linden.  Lynn Harris is the Warner Bros. Pictures executive overseeing the project for the Studio.
